The local traditions of lace making and sheep raising are being honored this month with events in two Sanpete County communities. The 4th annual Lace Days is being held July 12 at the Fairview Museum. It celebrates the art, history and skill of lace making, and attracts lace-making enthusiasts and visitors from the state, country and even outside the United States. Highlights include lace-making demonstrations, information on crochet, knit, netting, and needle lace, exhibitor tables, and a class on making lace ornaments. The event is held in cooperation with the Beehive Lacers Guild. It’s being shortened to one day this year to allow participants to also attend the International Old Lacers Convention in Denver. Lace Days runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fairview museum, located at 85 N. 100 East in Fairview. For information call (435) 427-9216. In Fountain Green, plans are underway for the annual Lamb Days celebration July 15 & 16th. The event, held in the city park at 300 West Center Street, honors the community’s roots in sheep raising. Friday’s event highlights include a youth lamb show at 2 p.m., a mutton and sourdough dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. and a youth talent show, and an adult dance from 9 p.m. to midnight.
